JACKSONVILLE, Tuesday, February 19 – Westminster Woods on Julington Creek was pleased to welcome award winning storyteller, Michael Reno Harrell. Residents enjoyed an evening of storytelling and entertainment.
Harrell’s original songs and stories have been described as “Appalachian grit and wit.” However, his awareness is much broader than the bounds of his boyhood home or even the Southern experience. He’s traveled and toured through out the British Isles and Europe, as well as we the United States, and his collective life experiences are reflected through the songs he writes and the stories he creates insight into people’s lives that catch the ear like an old friend’s voice.
Residents laughed at the memories that his stories evoked and may have even shed a tear in sentiment of others. We were pleased to welcome Harrell with the support of the Westmister Retirement Communities Foundation, part of our Cultural Enrichment program, with the goal of enhancing the exclusive My W Life program for wellbeing of body, mind and soul, through intellectually stimulating events.
